Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Idaho
Formed in 1924, the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Idaho (IIABI), is one the oldest insurance agents trade associations in the state. Over 800 agents, brokers, and their employees make IIABI the largest agents' trade association in Idaho. In addition to their Regular Membership, IIABI also enjoys the active participation of Associate Members which include major insurance companies, general agencies, and suppliers doing business in our state.
HISTORY & MISSION
In 1924, it became apparent to a small group of founders for the need to encourage and promote understanding and cooperation among Idaho insurance agents, insurance companies and consumers. The result was the first independent insurance agents' association in Idaho incorporated in 1946. Charles Hickey of Nampa, Idaho served as its first president.
The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Idaho (IIABI) or Big "I" is an alliance of small business owners and their employees who sell all types of insurance. Member agencies throughout the state represent more than one insurance company, thereby offering clients "freedom of choice". . freedom to choose coverages and companies for their auto, home, life, health, and commercial needs. In addition to the over 800 agency owners, producers and employees of our regular agency membership, the IIABI enjoys the support of Associate members, major insurance companies and suppliers of the American Agency System.
A member-driven organization, the IIABI is led by an elected Board of Directors and active Committees adhering to the purposes set forth in the Articles of Incorporation.
IIABI is the Idaho arm of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA). Founded in 1896, IIABA represents a network of over 300,000 agents and their employees, with state organizations in all fifty states. From their headquarters in Alexandria, VA, the national association administers an enormous array of products and services to help member agencies compete in today's ever evolving insurance marketplace. IIABA also maintains an office on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., that is consistently ranked among the top lobby organizations in the country for its unrelenting advocacy on insurance issues.
